About City

Baltimore is the largest city in the United States of America which is located in the State Maryland. The independent city is founded in 1729 and it is often called as Baltimore city to differentiate it from Baltimore country. It is the second largest seaport in the Mid-Atlantic United States and is located closer to Midwestern markets than any other major seaport on the East Coast.

On the other hand, it is the 26th most populous city in the country and it is located in the central area of the state where the tidal portion of the Patapsco River forms the harbor for the Baltimore City. The Patapsco River is a 39-mile-long river which flows into Chesapeake Bay. Baltimore's Inner Harbor was a major manufacturing center and previously it was the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States. After the deindustrialization, Baltimore has been turned to a service-oriented economy with the Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Hospital which are serving as the city's top two employers.

Baltimore has been nick named as the Charm city and “a city of neighborhoods" with its hundreds of identified cities and it is well known for health and science due to its esteemed Johns Hopkins University school system, the University of Maryland-Baltimore and other schools such as University of Baltimore, University of Maryland-Baltimore County, Loyola University and Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Most of the city’s tourism lies around the Inner harbor. The Baltimore Visitor Center which is located on Light Street in the Inner harbor and National Aquarium are the popular tourist destinations. Other popular tourist destinations include Vernon, Fells Point neighbor hoods, Oriole Park at Camden Yards and Fort McHenry and museums such as the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards ,Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
